Composition and Lyrics
John Legend
I’m drawing lines from your home to mine
Making up for lost time
Cause there’s not that much difference
The end will come, everyone shut down, pageantry, and parade
Stripped of all its significance
Your brothers eyes, were in disguise
As she agonized, trying to live just beside you
When someone finally tells you when
Your final home will lie
You step out, look around, and see if true love’s still inside you
I’m not singing much, you don’t already know
I just hope I’m giving voice to a song that’s worth singing
Melody and harmony can electrify your soul
Give you all that you need
When the judgement bells are ringing
I’m drawing lines from your home to mine
Making up for lost time
Cause there’s not that much difference

Lyrics
John Bettis
Looking out
Across the nighttime
The city winks a sleepless eye
Hear her voice
Shake my window
Sweet seducing sighs
Get me out
Into the nighttime
Four walls won’t hold me tonight
If this town
Is just an apple
Then let me take a bite
If they say
Why? why?
Tell ‚em that it’s human nature
Why? why?
Does he do me that way?
If they say
Why? why?
Tell ‚em that it’s human nature
Why? why?
Does he do me that way?
Reaching out
To touch a stranger
Electric eyes are everywhere
See that girl
She knows I’m watching
She likes the way I stare
If they say
Why? why?
Tell ‚em that it’s human nature
Why? why?
Does he do me that way?
If they say
Why? why?
Tell ‚em that it’s human nature
Why? why?
Does he do me that way?
I like livin‘ this way
I like lovin‘ this way
